Cherwell Canoe Polo Squad

Canoe Polo is one of the fastest-growing forms of paddle sport both in the UK and Worldwide

  • Played in swimming pools and outdoors
  • 5 players a side with rolling substitutions
  • Ball can be thrown or paddle-flicked
  • Goals suspended 2m above the water
  • Body protection, helmets and faceguards are compulsory
  • Specifically designed boats – fast and manoeuvrable with padding for safety
  • A contact sport – when tackling for the ball pushing the opponent in is allowed!

Cherwell has one of the largest squads in the UK with 3 open teams, a ladies team, and a youth team in the national leagues.
The teams also compete in international competitions around the UK and Europe during the summer.

The main squad training session is in Stratford pool during the winter and Woodgreen Outdoor Pool in Banbury during the summer.
Polo is suitable for anyone with basic kayaking skills.
