Recreational Paddling

Our Recreational Paddling section covers all the non-competitive sides of the club.  This covers many disciplines including:

• Placid Water Touring
• Whitewater Kayaking
• Sea Kayaking
• Kayak Surfing
• Playboating
• Stand Up Paddle Boarding

If you wish to paddle on a local river or try some of the more remote places around the world, then we are able to help you on your way.

The club runs regular trips all over the UK.  For novice paddlers these can start with easy touring on our canal network before progressing to the gentle moving waters of the River Avon or Thames.

Those looking for the challenge of whitewater can hone their skills in relative safety at one of our growing number of artificial whitewater courses (the nearest being the Nene Whitewater Centre at Northampton).

For the more experienced there is the opportunity to head for the South West or Wales in search of some serious whitewater when conditions allow.  Our whitewater group organises two residential trips to Dartmoor each year, covering a range of classic whitewater rivers including the Upper, Loop and Lower Dart, Tavy and Walkham in recent years.

 

Our annual surf trip to North Devon is not only a social highlight of the calendar but also provides an opportunity to surf ocean waves or explore the coast from the comfort of a sea kayak.
